Good or Bad?

If everyone decided on what they believe is good or bad, then anything could be considered good or bad. That’s why people today don’t have faith in governments. One group believes someone should be the president, while another group doesn’t. But what happens if those two groups were asked what makes someone a good president? They would give a ton of different answers because a lot of individuals have some internalized scale created by their own experiences that goes back and forth between good and bad. Then they decide if an arbitrary character trait is good or bad.

Seeking an identity, independence, and individuality are not inherently good or bad. God calls for us to find our identity in him (Ephesians 2:10). He calls for us to work hard (Proverbs 14:23, Colossians 3:23). He calls for us to find our gifts (Romans 12:6-8). The problem with these ideas is when we start to wonder away from God and seek these outside of Him. Someone who works for a fortune 500 company is not bad, but does she honor Christ in her work? Do her coworkers know she’s Christian? Is she charitable? (Acts 20:35, Hebrews 13:16). Individualism or finding oneself is a journey a lot of people have been on or are currently on. When people begin to question one another on their journey the question should be, are they seeking God? Are they confident he is good, and he will direct their paths if they seek Him? Don’t criticize or judge someone for the path they are on, advise them on how to seek God through prayer and scripture so when it is time for judgment, God can tell them their verdict.

Matthew 12:25-26

“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?’
